What is overactive bladder?

Overactive bladder refers to various causes that stimulate the nerves (parasympathetic nerves) that control the muscles around the bladder (detrusor muscle), and this nerve becomes excited, causing excessive contraction of the detrusor muscle.

Therefore, it refers to a condition in which you feel a sense of urgency to urinate (a sudden, strong urge to urinate that you cannot hold back) even when there is no urine stored in the bladder.

This results in symptoms such as frequent urination and nocturia.

​1. neurogenic
